I’m a freelance writer specializing in real estate, architecture, landscaping and design. I contribute regularly to a column about international real estate for the nytimes.com, and to the NYT’s What You Get column. Links to my NYT articles can be found here.
In addition, I’ve written recently for the Philadelphia Inquirer, NewsWorks.org, The Architect’s Newspaper, and The Awl.
I prepare back-of-the-book style indexes for books and periodicals for clients such as the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
Since 2004, I have worked part time as a reference librarian at the Community College of Philadelphia. I have also worked as a special collections librarian, an archivist, and a cataloger. I earned a Masters in Library and Information Science from Rutgers University in 2002.
I also write fiction, essays and poetry.
Originally from Northern California, I now live in Northwest Philadelphia with my family.
Please contact me at vcmcguire at gmail.com for writing samples and rates, or to suggest furnished resale homes for my NYT real estate columns. I’d prefer to hear from you first by email, but you can also reach me by phone at (267) 270-5324.
You can also follow me on Twitter or view my profile on LinkedIn.
Thanks for your interest in my work.
